Hospice Care Prioritizes Comfort and Quality of Life
The primary goal of hospice care is to manage symptoms to provide comfort and improve quality of life. Hospice care also allows time for and encourages spiritual and emotional support for the patient, their family, and their caregiver(s).
Hospice is Not a Physical Place
Hospice is a specialized type of medical care that provides services wherever you call home. Most of Four Seasons hospice care is provided in the patient’s home, whether that is in a single-family home, assisted living facility, skilled nursing facility, or other residence.
If symptoms become too significant to be managed in the home, hospice care can be provided in Four Seasons inpatient unit, Elizabeth House. Patients receive 24/7 comfort care for symptoms in a peaceful, home-like environment. Many patients stay at Elizabeth House temporarily and return home when their symptoms are managed again. When caregivers need a break, Elizabeth House also provides up to five days of respite care. For others, Elizabeth House can be beneficial to a patient’s natural end of life.
